About Metis Football

Metis Football is a football modelling project. We build our own statistical models of how matches play out — across club leagues and, right now, the 2026 World Cup — and we hold ourselves to one standard: every prediction is published and tracked in public, hits and misses alike.

The models

Our club model is built on bespoke team-strength ratings — separate home and away ratings, expected goals (xG) rather than just goals scored, squad value and more — combined with machine learning to turn those signals into calibrated match probabilities. It is trained across leagues and updated continuously through the season.

Our World Cup model works differently for a one-off tournament: a strength rating for every nation, adjusted for the players in each current squad, fed through a simulation of the whole bracket. From it come a read on every fixture, group and knockout projections, and an optimised fantasy squad.

Where we're headed

The aim is simple: a model good enough to stand on its public record. We're deepening the team and player analytics behind every page, broadening market coverage, and continuing to show our working — because a forecast you can't check isn't worth much.
